Some of the players had been in the short lived "'Rockin' Guido and the Zydeco Twisters" who we believe to be Ottawa's first zydeco band. Even before Zydeco Loco started to rehearse, they had two original songs from their previous group. Then after adding many Louisiana dancehall faves to the repertoire they began playing the clubs, and festivals around the area. Highlights being Ottawa Bluesfest 1999-2002, the Ottawa R&B festival 1997 thru 2002, and their own annual Mardi Gras party, held at THE RAINBOW, six years running.

The band has had a few lineup changes since its start, with the departure of Sean Burke to the Tony D band , Don Evans of "Mumbo Jumbo Voodoo Combo" was added on bass. Then due to drummer Lorenzo Cotroneo's defection to Tony D's group , lead singer Steve "Washboard Elvis" Lund had to go back to the drums. About this same time "Loco" added fiddler Micheal Ball, and after a few months Zydeco Loco decided to record. Their first CD "Voici Le Pamplemousse" was the result. Along side their own songs they have put a different twist to some Louisiana classics.
